Cooling water restored, Fukushima Daiichi

NISA reports water injection to No. 1 through No. 3 units at Fukushima Daiichi resumed at 6:05 PM Tokyo time. Stoppage of water injection lasted from 5:16 PM Tokyo time until 6:05 PM Tokyo time, or a total of 49 minutes.

  1. The pressure in the RPV of reactor 1 continues to rise.
    What is the current strategy for managing this situation?
    Should we be worried that this could get sharply worse?
    There is talk in the Japan based blogs suggesting the government may raise Fukushima to INES 7, which implies they have a more cautious view than their public pronouncements suggest.

  2. if pressure rises too much, more venting would be required.

    raising this to level 7 would be putting it above kashtym which is rediculuos.
