Fukushima Daiichi 3: Final resort

The 1:00 PM (Tokyo time) statement by TEPCO indicates that, after a failure of emergency core cooling systems, the decision was made to inject seawater and boric acid into the primary coolant system of Fukushima Daiichi No.3.

This action, a last resort, has now been taken for both reactor plants No. 1 (which suffered the containment building explosion) and No. 3 (which more recently lost its core cooling capability) essentially dooming these plants.
